Course Description

BC312   Enterprise Computing

Acad Unit: 4
Pre-requisite: AB113

This course is about Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, or enterprise systems. ERP systems are accepted as the state-of-the-art solution for computerising medium to large sized enterprises. The implementation of an ERP software package follows a lifecycle that is different from the traditional software delivery process.

This course introduces students to a business process-oriented view of an organisation, to the modelling of the organisation’s requirements using ARIS (aprocess modelling tool), to the mapping of these requirements onto the ERPsoftware’s (SAP R/3) reference processes, and to the key issues of implementation.

The course is laid out along the three phases of the ValueSAP implementation framework. Presentation comprises a mix of lectures, seminar-style classes, and hands-on computer labs. Students will be introduced to the basic skills of modeling and configuring business processes.
