Cultural intelligence, defined as the individual capability to adapt effectively across different cultures, provides new lenses with which to evaluate the changing Asian leadership landscape. Cultural intelligence also provides new perspectives for developing global leadership capabilities for the 21st century. The key question posed in this module is “How can leaders leverage on cultural intelligence to lead effectively across different cultures?” In this module, the focus is on developing our understanding of cultural intelligence and applying it to global leadership.
When it comes to global strategy, most business leaders make two assumptions: (1) that the central challenge is to strike the right balance between economies of scale and responsiveness to local conditions, and (2) that the more emphasis companies place on scale economies in their worldwide operations, the more global their strategies will be. This module will examine why these assumptions are problematic. |
