Divisions at Nanyang Business School
Strategy, Management and Organization
The Division of Strategy, Management and Organization, the largest division of the Nanyang Business School, has over 40 experts from four major areas, namely, strategic management, organizational behavior, human resource management and business communications.
In teaching, we design and conduct a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in strategy, organizational behavior, and managerial communication. Students learn how managers make strategic decisions and manage people to achieve sustainable competitive advantage in a dynamic business environment. Our faculty members use a variety of pedagogical methods to help students acquire domain knowledge as well as competencies in creative thinking, analytical and conceptual skills, and interpersonal communication.
The Division research programs, characterized by multi-disciplinary and cross-cultural approaches, are vigorous and growing in international stature. The results have been published in the leading international journals such as the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of Applied Psychology, Organization Science, etc. The faculty members are also very well-represented on the editorial boards of international journals.
We are at the forefront of research in cross-cultural issues. Our Center for Leadership and Cultural Intelligence (CLCI), the first cultural intelligence research center in the world, underscores the importance of cultural intelligence in attaining success in cross-cultural management and collaborations through rigorous research in generating knowledge about cultural intelligence and helping students and executives develop culturally-intelligent interpersonal skills.
In executive development, our faculty members are highly sought after not only for their academic expertise but also for their industry experience. In collaboration with the Office of Executive Education, we have customized executive development programs to match the specific needs of clients, which include industry leaders and global corporations. We provide education and development programs for executives from top management to aspiring young managers. We have experts who can deftly bridge the East-West cross-cultural management divide and apply insights derived from not only modern research but also Chinese classics to address management problems and challenges.
A good number of them also sit on various international and local organizations as members and advisors, including directorship on corporate boards.
