Actuarial Networking Night
On 18 August 2009, QFASC organized the Actuarial Networking Night for NTU’s actuarial science cohort. The event was graced by Mr. Frank McInerney, President of the Singapore Actuarial Society (SAS), distinguished guests from SAS, as well as NTU’s actuarial science professors and alumni. The objectives of the event are to provide opportunities for actuarial students to gain specific information about the highly sought-after actuary’s pay, an actuary’s work, career paths, and to inspire more interest and awareness about the actuarial profession. The Networking Night was also an avenue for NTU’s actuarial science cohort to connect with actuaries in the industry as represented by SAS.

Actuarial Talk by Prof David Dickson
On 14 May 2009, Professor David Dickson came to NTU and gave a talk to our school’s actuarial science students. Professor David is a highly accomplished academician from the University of Melbourne. He has published many excellent research papers and is famous among the actuarial science community. In his talk, Professor David focused on one of his topics of interest, ruin theory.

Finance EXCEL Workshop
The EXCEL workshop was organised by QFACS with concentration on finance for actuarial science students. The instructor for the day was Koh Wee Ming, a final-year student majoring in actuarial science and banking & finance.
