Richard D. Stanley is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of both DBS Group Holdings and DBS Bank. Prior to joining DBS in May 2008, Stanley was the CEO of Citi China, where he had direct responsibility for the management of Citi's businesses, investments, strategy and infrastructure in China. Stanley joined Citi in 1981 in New York as a summer intern, and subsequently held a range of senior positions encompassing a broad array of functions over a 27-year career with Citi, including corporate banking, consumer banking, corporate finance, investment banking, global transaction services, equities, fixed income and treasury activities. Stanley has been based in Asia for the past 18 years, working in Singapore, Thailand and China. His recent appointments at Citi include Region Head of Citi Markets and Banking for ASEAN (Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Brunei) and Citi Country Officer for Singapore. He was first appointed to head Citi's China business in 1999. In 2006, Stanley was awarded the prestigious Magnolia Gold Award by the Municipal Government of Shanghai in recognition of his services to the city. In 2002, he was named by The Banker (China) as one of the 10 key individuals in China's financial services sector, the only foreigner to receive this recognition. A U.S. citizen, Stanley received his MBA from Columbia University in 1990. He is married with three children. |
