Mr Ng Joo Hee currently leads PUB, Singapore’s national water agency. In this role, he is responsible for the supply of potable water, the reclamation and treatment of used water, and the management of storm water in Singapore. He also holds a concurrent appointment as the Deputy Secretary (Special Duties) in the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources.

On 5 Jan 2015, Mr Ng completed a 29½-year career in the Singapore Police Force, the last five as the Commissioner of Police.

Mr Ng joined the Police when he was awarded the SPF Overseas Scholarship in 1985. He read Engineering Science and Economics at the University of Oxford, graduating with honours in 1988. Commissioner Ng also has an MBA from the Nanyang Technological University (1998), and a Masters in Public Administration from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University (2001).

Mr Ng’s years of public service were spent in increasingly responsible positions in the Police, the Internal Security Department, and other government ministries and departments. Prior to becoming the police commissioner, he was for several years the Director of Prisons, tasked with the effective and efficient operation of all prisons and drug rehabilitation centres in Singapore.

Mr Ng is married to Joyce, and father to Angelina and Alicia. When not honing up on tweenager fads, Mr Ng enjoys reading, runs marathons, works on his golf handicap, plays masters soccer, and is also a keen amateur photographer.
