Mr Willie Cheng is Chairman of the Singapore Institute of Directors, the national association of company directors, which promotes the professional development of directors and corporate leaders. He is an independent director of United Overseas Bank, Far East Hospitality Trust, Singapore Health Services, and Integated Health Information Systems.

He is actively engaged in the non-profit sector, and is the Chairman of CHARIS, and a board or council member of Council of Third Age, SymAsia Foundation, apVentures, and Catholic Foundation.

He has written extensively on directorship matters and nonprofit issues. He is author of Doing Good Well: What does (and does not) make sense in the nonprofit world and co-editor of The World That Changes The World: How philanthropy, innovation, and entrepreneurship are transforming the social ecosystem.

He started his career in audit with Arthur Andersen & Co and later transferred to its management consulting practice which became Accenture. He was Country Managing Director and Managing Partner of Accenture’s communications and high tech practice in Asia when he retired in 2003.

He is an Honorary Fellow of the Singapore Computer Society, and a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Singapore Institute of Directors.

He holds a Bachelor of Accountancy (First Class Honours) degree from the University of Singapore.
