Course of Study

The Chartered Valuer and Appraiser programme is based on the global competency framework for professional valuers as IVAS is a member of the International Valuation Standards Council, the standards setter for global valuation. Participants will build technical competencies in valuation concepts, principles and applications. These are essential skill sets for the investment community, business owners and management, academia and regulators, in addition to accountants and auditors.
The programme was crafted from a Body of Knowledge that received industry inputs and is based on the competency framework advocated by IVSC. This programme, as the initial development curriculum, will benefit individuals from diverse backgrounds and industries by allowing them to acquire and deepen their knowledge in Business Valuation.
The curriculum is designed with an “outside-in” approach that starts with considering industry’s evolving needs and perspectives. Participants are exposed to a wide range of technically grounded fields.
The course of study is defined by logical progression and in three successive levels.
Level 1 - Business Valuation and the Legal Framework
Module 1: Introductory Business Valuation
Module 2: Law and Valuation
Level 2 - Business Valuation for Transactions and Financial Reporting

Module 3: Business Valuation for Transactions

Programme Learning Routes

The Chartered Valuer and Appraiser programme will offer two routes for all individuals:

  • The Self-Study Route
The Self-Study Route provides individuals with the flexibility of studying from learning materials at their own pace before sitting for the assessment.
  • The Structured Learning Route
The Structure Learning Route provides the individuals who prefer a more disciplined approach of attending classroom lessons and interacting with like-minded individuals.

The duration for each level is 6 months. The duration of the programme for both routes is 18 months (assuming the individual successfully passes the assessment for each level).

You are strongly encouraged to complete the programme within 3 years from the date of enrolment. You can only request for deferment once throughout the course of study, and any deferment/withdrawal is considered strictly on a case-by-case basis.

Please note that all deferment/withdrawal requests are subject to approval and must be submitted in writing to at least 2 months before the exam date/class start date.
