FAQ - Professional (Part-Time) MBA

    Admissions

  1. 1. what are the minimum entry requirements to the nanyang PMBA programme
    1. Bachelor’s Degree
    2. At least 2 years work experience
    3. GMAT score > 600 or GRE equivalent
    4. TOEFL score > 100IBT > 600 PBT or IELTS score > 6.5, if English was not the medium of instruction used at the undergraduate level
  2. 2. how do i apply?​
    Application forms are available online. Only online applications are accepted. Supporting documents are to be submitted electronically. Please click here to start your online application now.
  3. 3. when should i submit the application form?
    Applicants are encouraged to submit ALL supporting documents together with the application forms before each application deadline. Please click here to view the application deadlines for the next intake. Incomplete applications will not be processed.
  4. 4. what documents must i submit to support my application?
    Note: Upload all applicable supporting documents (except referee's reports which need to be sent from your referees' official work e-mail addresses) by clicking the link on the on-line application form.

  5. 5. should i translate my educational certifications if they are not in english?
    Yes, a notary translated copy is required if it is not in English language.
  6. 6. how much is the application fee?
    The application fee is SGD100. Please note that the application fee is non-refundable and an application received without attached payment will not be processed. Please click here to make payment online via VISA / MasterCard.
  7. 7. what should i do after submitting my application?
    Successfully submitted applications will receive an automated email notification. Our Admissions team will review your application and contact you within 4 to 6 weeks.
  8. 8. how do i check the status of my application?
    You may check your application status through our online application system or here.
  9. 9. when will my application be reviewed?
    Assessment will begin once you have completed your online application together with all supporting documents required.
  10. 10. how many referee reports are required?
    Two (2). All reports must be submitted using the standard template.
  11. 11. who can my referee(s) be?
    Referees can include Your immediate supervisors (both past and present), university lecturers and business associates (for self-employed applicants only)
  12. 12. can i submit the referee report by hard or soft copy?
    Referees’ report should use the template provided and should be sent by the referees via email to mba.admissions@ntu.edu.sg using their official work email address.
  13. 13. what can i expect at the interview?
    The admissions interview is an opportunity for us to get to know you and understand your expectations from the programme and vice-versa. The interview is generally conducted by panel comprising of faculty and members of the admissions committee.
  14. 14. what is gmat?
    Graduate Management Admission Test. It is a test to assess the qualifications of applicants for advanced study in business and management. For more information, please visit their website. If you are applying for the Nanyang PMBA, please send your official scores to us using our NTU code V24-ZV-75.
  15. 15. is gmat compulsory?
    Yes. Therefore, you are strongly advised to take the GMAT early so as not to delay the processing of your application. The institution code for NTU is V24-ZV-75. A good GMAT score will be viewed favourably in the assessment of the application.
  16. 16. what is an acceptable gmat score?
    600 and above
  17. 17. can i submit my gmat score report at a later date?
    Yes. Please submit your application online application first, even if you have not taken the GMAT (you may indicate the date of your GMAT test, if any) and send your unofficial GMAT score report once you have taken the test. However, please note that assessment will only begin when we have received all of your supporting documents which includes your GMAT score.

    5 years from the test date.
  19. 19. i have taken the gmat more than once. which score will you consider?
    Admission will take the highest and valid GMAT score in the assessment.
  20. 20. do you accept the gre score?
    Yes we accept GRE scores. Our DI Code is 3802
  21. 21. is toefl mandatory? can i request to be exempted?
    TOEFL is mandatory if English is not your native tongue or if the medium of instruction for your tertiary studies (undergraduate degree) was not exclusively in English. To be exempted, you need to produce proof of other language proficiency such as IELTS / TOEIC or its equivalent.
  22. 22. what is an acceptable toefl score?
    At least 600 for paper-based, 250 for computer-based and above 100 for internet-based tests. The institution code is 9705.
  23. 23. how long is my toefl score valid?
    2 years from the test date.
  24. 24. can i substitute ielts for toefl?
    Yes, we accept IELTS as a substitute for TOEFL. The minimum acceptable band score is 6.5.
  25. 25. how long can i defer my acceptance if i am accepted into the programme?
    Deferments are reviewed on a case-to-case basis. Admissions are usually accorded.
  26. 26. do i need to submit an application form and all supporting documents if i am a re-applicant?

  1. 1. Do you participants have access to career support?
    Yes, they will have full access to career support from our Graduate Studies Career Development Office (GSCDO).

    Fees & Financial Aid

  1. 1. How much is the tuition fee?
    S$65,000 (includes GST, all course materials and meals during class time. Fees exclude airfare, accommodation and other miscellaneous costs.)
  2. 2. Are scholarships available for participants of the nanyang prodessional MBA (part-time)?
    Yes, scholarships are available on a competitive basis for participants of the PMBA programme. Please click here for more information.
  3. 3. What is the payment schedule like?

    Programme

  1. 1. What is the language of instruction for the PMBA programme?
    English is the language of instruction. Participants need to be fluent in English to apply for the programme. TOEFL/IELTS scores are required for applicants who did not do an undergraduate degree in English.
  2. 2. Can pmba participants also take up the double master programmes?
    No. Only full-time participants of the Nanyang MBA are eligible for the Double MBA/Masters programmes.
  3. 3. What is the programme structure like?
    It follows a modular system whereby classes are conducted on Saturdays and Sundays over two alternate weekends per month. Participants will complete between one and two modules each month.
  4. 4. Are there any breaks during the programme?
    Yes, there will be no classes held during June and December with the exception of the final month of the programme which will be in December.
  5. 5. Are classes conducted through distance-learning?
    There will be components of online learning but all classes will have face-to-face interaction. This will facilitate learning through discussions and enhance the networking opportunities among participants.
  6. 6. Can i switch from the part-time to the full-time programme (and vice versa)?
    No, as both have different programme structures.
  7. 7. Where will classes be conducted?
    Classes will be conducted at an accessible location. The exact venue will be advised soon.
  8. 8. What is the duration of the programme?
    This is an 18 month programme with breaks in June and December.
  9. 9. What specialisations are available?
  10. The PMBA is a general management programme where all participants will complete all modules in the programme. Tracks are only available in the full-time MBA programme. Please click here for more information on the tracks available in the full time Nanyang MBA programme.
  11. 10. How many intakes fo you have per year?
    One, which commences in July every year.
  12. 11. What is a typical daily schedule?
    Class will start at 9am and end at 6pm or later if required. However, participants should be prepared to stay till late to prepare for case discussions and group presentations/assignments.
  13. 12. Are meal provided during the programme?
    Yes, meals will be provided during class time. There will be 2 breaks and 1 lunch per class day where applicable.
  14. 13. How are classes graded/assessed?
    Participants are assessed through a variety of methods. Some assessment methods include class participation, case discussions, group presentations, exams/quizzes and take home assignments.

  1. 1. what is the size of the ntu/nbs alumni network?
    The NTU alumni network is larger than 200,000 and growing with around 40,000 of them from the Nanyang Business School.

    You can meet our alumni at our events and information sessions. We can also link potential candidates up with alumni to find out more about the programme.
  3. 3. how can i benefit from the alumni network whilst still in the programme?
    W
    e organise events which help create networking opportunities between alumni and current participants in the programme. Furthermore, participants will get to network with alumni and participants from the other programmes within the School too.
