The 4th NTU Finance Conference, organised by Nanyang Business School (NBS) Division of Banking and Finance, concluded with a resounding success.
The one-and-half-day conference was a platform for dialogue and an opportunity for faculty and researchers to interact and keep abreast of latest research in the finance industry.
Sixty participants and 14 speakers took part in the conference on 1 – 2 July 2019. Topics discussed at the conference included:
• Firm uncertainty and household consumption
• Shareholders and stakeholders around the world: the role of values, culture, and law in directors’ decisions
• Stock liquidity and corporate social responsibility
• Government Affiliation and Peer-to-Peer Lending Platforms in China
Conference Programme Chair Assistant Professor Chen Guojun welcoming participants
Professor Zhang Xiaoyan, Associate Dean and Xinyuan Professor of Finance at the PBC School of Finance, Tsinghua University, was one of the five speakers from overseas.
“This year’s conference saw a more diverse mix of speakers – they come from universities in the US, UK, and China.
The conference programme also reflects some of the latest trends in finance research. We have researches skewed towards stakeholders – creditors, employees, the society – and in the international context rather than focusing solely on the US firms. There is also more focus in the newly emerged areas such as fin-tech,” shared Assistant Professor Chen Guojun.
